Proof Gold coins are limited edition bullion coins which undergo a specialized minting process that begins by manually feeding burnished 22-karat coin blanks into presses fitted with special dies. Each coin is struck multiple times giving the appearance of a softly frosted image floating above a mirror-like background. Denominations include one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce, and tenth ounce coins. The four-piece set includes one of each size, for a total of 1.85 ounces. There is also a two-piece set which includes a one ounce and a half ounce coin. The various denominations also come packaged individually.

Proof coins are usually packed into capsules and a high quality display packaging along with information about the coins. Gold coins are soft and proofs should not be removed from the packaging which has been designed to protect the coin from nicks, scratches and any other blemish. Shown right is the 1 oz.
