First struck in 1983, the Isle of Man's Noble was the first one-ounce platinum investment coin (shown). The Noble is also available in 1/20, 1/10, 1/4, 1/2, 5, and 10oz sizes. Platinum coins of the United States, Canada and Australia all followed this remarkable coin. Proof versions of these now-discontinued platinum coins are offered in sets containing the five smallest proof platinum coins.

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (the Isle of Man is a British territory), although a slightly different portrait is used for many of the different sizes of Nobles. The Queen is surrounded by the date of issue, her name, and the words 'ISLE OF MAN'.

The reverse of the coin features a Viking longship floating on the sea as gulls fly by. Underneath the waters sit the amount of platinum and the fineness. Below that are words signifying the size ("QUARTER NOBLE", "FIVE NOBLE", etc.)
