Minted from 1907 to 1933, many consider the $20 St. Gaudens to be one of the most beautiful rare coins in U.S. history. Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt to design a coin rivaling the coins of Ancient Greece and Rome, Augustus Saint-Gaudens was a famous American sculptor known for his "Standing Lincoln" sculpture in Chicago's Lincoln Park, and the General Sherman Civil War Monument in New York's Central Park.

One of the coins providing the best potential for long-term growth, the Saint- Gaudens is one of the most sought after coins by investors and is often referred to as the $20 St. Gaudens or $20 Saint.

The obverse depicts Liberty holding a staff and olive branch as she walks from the sun, its rays rising up behind her. On some 1907 coins, the date in Roman numerals appears to the right of Liberty. The word 'LIBERTY' is centered above her, arcing just below stars representing the number of states in the union.

The reverse features a bald eagle flying above the sun with the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" arcing around the top of the coin. In 1907 and the first half of 1908, the President requested that "IN GOD WE TRUST" be omitted from the coin. Congress reintroduced it in 1908.
