Peace Silver Dollars were first minted in 1921 to commemorate the end of World War I and were halted in 1935 because of the Great Depression. The United States would never again mint a dollar coin from real silver.

Because it was minted during the best and worst of times, the Peace Dollar symbolizes the resilience and optimism of America and will always be treasured as the last true American silver dollar. The obverse of the coin features the head of Liberty with the word 'LIBERTY' arcing around the top of her head with the date at the bottom and the words 'IN GOD WE TRUST' appearing around her neck. The designers monogram is in the field of the coin under the neck of Liberty.

The reverse depicts an eagle standing on a mountain top in front of the sun's rays. Across the eagle are the words 'ONE DOLLAR', with the mint mark underneath. Arcing The words 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' arc around the top, with 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' right below it, and the word 'PEACE' arcing around the bottom.
